This paper contains a design study for steel poles formed by swaging that are equivalent to wooden poles and can be used in the same classes of electrical power distribution poles as described in the specifications of the Libyan Electricity Company. Whereas, this paper aims to verify the possibility of equivalent to the two most used types of the three types of wooden poles with the specifications of the General Electricity Company, to confirm the suitability of local materials for the chosen type of steel columns in the design process. The design steps for this product were taken by taking the load indicated in each length of the wooden poles in the two most used items by the General Electricity Company, which are light and medium, according to the specifications of the General Electricity Company, and then performing the mathematical analytical calculations for the stresses of 9 meters in length using the equations described in ASCE 48 -11: (American Society Civil Engineering) and making a simulation of this length using the two programs (ANSYS) and (RSAP) program, to cover most of the analytical aspects in the design process, and use the most accurate among them (ANSYS program) in outputting the analysis results for the rest of the lengths. Emphasis on these analytical results as stipulated in the aforementioned specifications, so the result by following this mechanism is the structural feasibility of the sectors chosen for this type of steel columns in all accounts, because the stresses resulting from the analysis were less than the permissible Standard (ASCE 48-11).
